The Letsgodigital website has published patent images of a smartphone with a very interesting design, which will soon be put into production at the Wingtech factory at the request of Xiaomi. The source adds that Xiaomi manufactures about 75% of its products in collaboration with ODM manufacturers. In addition, these companies have been cooperating for a long time.
These images were created from sketches that appeared in the databases of the National Bureau of Intellectual Property of China and the World Bureau of Intellectual Property.
The described smartphone has a wrapping screen that occupies almost the entire front and back panel. In fact, the screen in this “half double” state has only three tiny frames: top, bottom and one side.
The camera must be retractable so that the screen has no cuts or holes. The large unit includes three camera sensors and LED flash. It can also be used to take photos.
The power button is located on the bottom panel of the device, there is also a SIM card slot, a USB-C slot and a speaker hole.
We do not know if this smartphone will go into mass production, but if it does, it will definitely attract a lot of attention.
Xiaomi patents a phone with a detachable screen
The functionality in the phones is limited so far to the connection of speaker, charger to smartphone. However, Xiaomi wants to take it to a whole new level. He recently patented a screen that can be detached from the device shell and possibly used wirelessly.
The patent as defined by LetsGoDigital, has been published to the China Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). It was implemented on March 31, 2020. Xiaomi has sketches of the two-part mechanisms with almost 22 product images in it.
Speaking of which, the device has two parts – the main “body” part and the detachable “screen” part. The body part appears to be thicker than the screen that is obvious. But the interesting part is the full screen without perforation or pop-up cutout for the cameras. It is also possible that the monitor will have its own battery, but this is not clear here.
Xiaomi smartphone with detachable screen
This leads us to believe that the device may have a camera solution under the screen. This is further disclosed in the patent as the body without screen shows the two selfie shooters with longer interruption that could be an LED flashlight.
If this proves to be true, we will be surprised to see how Xiaomi implements the functionality of a lens under the screen.
Going forward, the rear screen and the front of the body in the patent reveal a pair of plugs each with 10 pins on them. However, we do not know what kind of link Xiaomi plans to use here to achieve modularity.
In addition, there is a USB-C port, speakers and a microphone grill at the bottom. There are volume buttons and a power button to the right. While the SIM card is on the left. The back of the device has a triple camera setting vertically stacked with a lens under them.
