Samsung Galaxy S21 won’t get BOE OLED displays – Post Daily

Despite securing OLED orders on mobile for Huawei Mate 40 series, a stunning report reveals that the BOE failed to meet Samsung ‘s expectations. Therefore, it will not provide OLED panel for the upcoming Galaxy S21 smartphone series.

An exhibition of ETNews says the BOE has been abandoned by Project U, which is apparently the name of the S21 series’ internal development project. While industry sources have not revealed exactly why the order was canceled, the report says factors such as the quality and unit price of the display could be the reason.

A move conspired by Samsung Display?

In addition, the report also predicts that Samsung Display could intervene with BOE orders to encourage competition. As we all know, Samsung Display is one of the sister companies and supplies screens to the flagships of Samsung, Apple and LG.

It has commercialized the latest technologies such as the AMOLED curve, OLED in mobile and has gained the trust of its suppliers over time due to the quality. As a result, it currently has a monopoly share of 90% in the global display market and takes over the championship.

That said, the BOE is not ready to back down as reports indicate that efforts to reach an agreement are likely to continue. One confidant said that the BOE has invested a lot of money in developing a prototype for Samsung and as a Chinese company, believes that orders for the S21 could boost the company’s growth worldwide.

Try until you succeed

This is understandable, given that the Galaxy S series is the company’s famous lineup and the technology recognized and approved by Samsung will attract investors from competitors around the world. Samsung will continue to look for alternatives to the Galaxy S21 series now.

The BOE, on the other hand, has already perfected the LCD segment, betting high on flexible OLED screens and sees it as a vending machine with great potential. Therefore, the BOE will continue to attract Samsung to convince them in the future.

A few days ago, it was reported that BOE has secured orders for OLED in-house for Huawei Mate 40 series, but it is yet to gain the trust of Apple. That being said, let’s wait and see how the situation disappears in the coming months.
