In the past, Samsung was known for its generic entry-level smartphones that offer poor performance. However, this example has recently changed with the introduction of the Galaxy M and A-series. These devices were not so far from the top offers of the company bringing AMOLED screens, bigger batteries and excellent performance at an affordable price. With these smartphones, the company has managed to overcome its past plagued by poor device traffic. Now, the company wants to take another step to bring performance to an even lower price level. Today, the company introduced the Galaxy M01 Core as the most affordable and mediocre handset in the M series.
The Galaxy M01 Core is the third smartphone to arrive in India below the price level of 10,000 INR. The M01 Core comes with Android 10 Go Edition and is found to be Samsung’s cheapest offer in the country. The price of the phone starts at 5,500 INR, about $ 74. The device is different from the Galaxy M01 that has already been released and different from the Galaxy M01s. For starters, the device is smaller with a 5.3-inch screen with HD + resolution, it also has 227 pixels per inch. Previous Core models had HD sub-screens that are suitable for the cheapest phone in the series.
Galaxy M01 Core specifications
Under the hood, the phone offers average performance thanks to the MediaTek MT6739 Quad-Core Cortex-A53 processor with a 1.5GHz watch and Mali-T760 dual-core GPU. The device does not offer great performance, but it should be enough for lightweight apps, social media and YouTube. The chipset is not as efficient as modern chipsets, as it is made with the obsolete 28nm process. It comes with just 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, according to Google, that’s enough for Android Go. However, we can clearly state that there will be no multitasking on this handset. Of course, there is a better variant with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. This will be much better in terms of multitasking. Both variants have triple card slots that accommodate two nanoSIMs and a microSD card at the same time. This is obviously an LTE phone with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
The phone has a small 3,000 mAh battery, which will last a few hours. However, Samsung is shipping the phone with the maximum power saving feature. It can extend battery life by performing only some critical applications. In the camera section, we have a single 8MP camera that can record up to 1080p video. Comes with a single auxiliary LED flash. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie sitting on the top panel.
Other features include GPS with Glonass and 3.5 mm headphone jack. The phone charges via a micro-USB port, so do not expect fast charging capabilities. The Galaxy M01 Core can be purchased from retail stores Opera House and Samsung from July 29. The 1 GB RAM / 16 GB storage version is available at 5,500 INR ~ $ 73.53. The variant with 2 GB of RAM / 32 GB of storage sells for $ 86.90. The handset is available in blue, black and red.
We are curious to see how this device will work in the country. It can be a good choice for less demanding users when you do not want to pay too much.
