After many leaks and reports, Oppo has finally introduced the global version of the Oppo Reno 4 smartphone. At the moment, the phone is available for pre-order in Thailand, but we expect it to arrive in more countries very soon. The first entry in the Reno 4 series brought a Snapdragon 720G chipset to the West. This is not a big deal for those who were expecting a 5G smartphone. However, the company believes that this is the best strategy for markets where 5G networks are not ready. In addition to the chipset, we have a smartphone that looks like its Chinese counterpart. However, the camera alignment is a bit different.
Oppo Reno 4 (Global) specifications
Under the hood, we have the aforementioned Snapdragon 720G chipset. It is an Octa-Core chipset with a 2.3 GHz clock made with the 7nm process. It’s not the same as the Chinese version of the Snapdragon 765G, but it’s good enough for a good mid-range performance. The chipset is combined with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Interestingly enough, the phone comes with a dual nano-SIM card slot plus another slot for a microSD card. You can expand the memory and use two SIM cards at the same time.
The Reno 4 features a 6.4-inch Full HD + display and a dual-hole solution that houses a 32MP selfie snapper. While the secondary sensor is not mentioned by the retailer, we probably have the 2MP depth sensor here. It is a minimalist screen with small hoops and a larger chin. Moving backwards, we have a Quad-Camera installation on a rectangular island. We have a 48MP main shooter, an ultra-wide 8MP unit and two 2MP sensors. Interestingly enough, the company has replaced the AF laser in the Chinese version with a normal 2MP depth cam. The Chinese version has a Triple-Camera series plus an AF laser unit.
The Oppo Reno 4 draws power from a 4,015mAh battery. The icing on the cake of this battery is that it comes with the VOOC 4.0 fast charging system that outputs 30W via the USB-C port. Another interesting fact is that the Oppo Reno 4 is complete with a 3.5 mm audio hack sitting on the lower left side. To everyone’s surprise, the company has included real headphones in the retail package.
Pricing and availability
The Reno 4 is already available for pre-order. However, the actual sales are only going to start next week on August 5th. Customers can choose between blue galaxy color and black space. In Thailand, the phone sells for 11,990 THB. This is about $ 385 or € 325. The company gives some free gifts for those who pre-order the phone. This goes from a JBL speaker to an Oppo speaker. The company also offers Backpack and Marshal Headphone for first time buyers.
