OnePlus made its big entry into the smart TV market in India a year ago with the release of the TV Q1 series. However, the most important step of the company to spread in the country took place this year. In early July, the company announced a series of more affordable smart TV series called OnePlus TV U and Y. Now, two new Y-series smart TVs are receiving OTA2 update with many improvements in overall stability.
OnePlus TV Y is the most economical offer in the OnePlus portfolio. The company currently sells two models in this series, namely the OnePlus TV 32Y1 and 43Y1. As their name suggests, we are looking at a 32-inch smart TV and another 43-inch TV. Interestingly enough, both TVs also have similar specifications. The main difference is in the resolution. The smallest panel has HD resolution with up to 1,366 x 768 pixels while the largest panel has FHD resolution with 1920 x 1080 pixels. This is the only difference and for this reason, both TVs share a single software. Therefore, the update is coming for both TVs at the same time.
The company calls the new update as OTA2. The OTA1 update was released shortly after the release of these TVs. It worked as a one-day update or a first-week update with bug fixes and overall stability improvements. OTA2 is more important as it adds support for more Alexa skills. It also optimizes the OnePlus Connect experience, audio quality and system memory usage.
OnePlus TV Y Series – 32Y1 and 43Y1 OTA 2 official changelog update:
- Alexa acquires a number of new skills to improve “smart” TV
- The OnePlus Connect Experience receives optimizations. Therefore, users will experience a better connection between mobile and TV
- The sound quality in the default settings has been further optimized
- System and memory usage is improving. Users need to improve the overall smoothness of the software.
Well, if you are familiar with the availability of OnePlus updates for smartphones, you will not have any surprises with TV updates. According to the Chinese company, the information is circulating gradually. First, it will reach a limited number of users. If no errors occur, then the company will present this update for more smart TVs.
It is good to see that users face the same level of treatment as the company’s smart TVs.
