OnePlus fans will remember 2020 as the year the company decided to become a company that makes more than the flagships. In addition to the release of the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, the company also unveiled its first mid-range phone in recent years. OnePlus Nord is the most affordable option for those who want great cameras and 5G connectivity. Under the hood, the phone carries the Snapdragon 765G and is one of the few phones in the mid-range segment that includes the Optical Image Stabilizaiton. The company will reportedly announce another OnePlus Nord this year with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 690, which will be the company’s most affordable 5G chipset. Now, new reports indicate that there is even a budget phone that comes with an LTE connection.
A new OnePlus phone with Snapdragon 662 / Snapdragon 665
We have to say, take this report with a little or two salt. Ultimately, it comes from a leak that Chun goes through (@ Boby25846908) on Twitter. It is not the most popular leak on the market, but it obviously knows one or two things about OnePlus designs. According to him, Oppo will launch a phone powered by the Snapdragon 662 chipset in early September. This upcoming device will be priced below the INR 20,000 range, which is just under $ 267. In addition, it states that the OnePlus will follow suit in late September with its own smartphone with the same Snapdragon 662 SoC or the Snapdragon 665 chipset. This phone will be priced between INR 16,000 and INR 18,000 ~ $ 213 to $ 240.

The Snapdragon 662 is an Octa-Core chipset located slightly below the Snapdragon 665 SoC. This latest chipset is nothing more than a mid-range performer and is available on budget smartphones like last year’s Redmi Note 8 and 8T. Making a smartphone with this chipset is not a surprise from companies that have a good presence in the middle section. However, it will be a huge surprise from OnePlus. Not to mention that this move is a rather unexpected move.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have strong indications for a smartphone with the aforementioned chipsets. The alleged OnePlus Nord with Snapdragon 690 has already appeared on GeekBench. For this reason, we will take this report as a reputation right now. However, if the company plans to release such a smartphone soon, then we will probably hear more about it next month.
