After many rumors and leaks, OnePlus finally introduced the OnePlus Nord in the last month with medium specifications. It is the company’s first mid-range phone in recent years, but obviously, it will not be the only one coming in 2020. A few weeks before the release of the first OnePlus Nord, we saw a OnePlus Nord running on GeekBench with a Snapdragon 690 chipset. This is the first Qualcomm chipset in the 6xx series that comes with a built-in 5G modem. Following the release of Nord, there have been reports that the Nord is not a single device, but a series of smartphones.
The OnePlus Nord with Snapdragon 765G has been released in various markets. However, OnePlus has decided to skip the North American market with the new mid-range phone. The company is rumored to be launching the OnePlus Nord-powered Snapdragon 690 in the United States and will be cheaper than the SD765G version. A new interesting detail appeared today and we can see that the new OnePlus Nord is slowly taking shape.
TUV Rhineland A new OnePlus charger with a maximum power of 9 Volts at 2 Amps has been certified. In other words, charger 18 Watts. This number is quite common in mid-range smartphones. It is also very common for QuickCharge and USB Power Delivery chargers. However, this is the first time we have seen this number on a OnePlus charger. So far, the minimum amount offered by the company was a 20W charger. Obviously the new charger will not be called Warp / Dash.
A OnePlus device with “mainstream” charging technology 18W
Interestingly enough, the OnePlus Nord supports Warp Charge 30T. We are sure that this is a feature that will be missing in a more affordable phone with the Snapdragon 690. It will be the first OnePlus phone that will not use Warp / Dash charging technology. However, this is something that some customers will definitely exchange to have a cheaper OnePlus phone with 5G. Ultimately, the company has many advantages in addition to charging technologies.
Unlike this upcoming mid-range phone, recent reports indicate that the OnePlus 8T family will reach 65W. As sister companies, Oppo and OnePlus usually take similar steps. Oppo recently made its 65W debut in the Reno 4 family. The technology will mature in the coming months and we will probably see it in the Q4 OnePlus 8T flagships.
