After several years focusing only on the mid-range segment, Motorola has finally introduced a new flagship this year in the form of the Motorola Edge +. The 5G flagship came with a vanilla version called the Motorola Edge. Both smartphones introduced 90Hz screens and the Edge + made its debut in the company’s new design featuring a curved OLED screen. Now, rumors suggest the arrival of a third member for this lineup called Motorola Edge Lite. It would be cheaper than the Motorola Edge, but it would also come with 5G connectivity.
After many rumors, Motorola organized an event on July 7 that will start at 3 p.m. CET. Unfortunately, the company did not provide information on what it might be. However, it probably starts with Edge Lite. Ultimately, the handset has just received FCC certification revealing a 4,700 mAh battery and 5G support.
Motorola Edge Lite Specifications
While the FCC did not provide any other details about the Motorola Edge Lite, a recent leak claims that the smartphone will have the Snapdragon 765G. This is a bit strange since the Motorola Edge packs the same chipset. The handset will also have 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of storage. Once the Motorola Edge offers microSD support we believe the same will be true of the Lite variant. Motorola Edge +, by contrast, does not have this option.
In addition, the Motorola Edge Lite will pack a 6.7-inch FullHD + screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz. Due to the nature of this smartphone, we will not have a curved waterfall screen this time. However, it should retain the fingerprint scanner below and a drill hole in the upper left corner for the 8MP selfie shooter. Obviously, we will have a pill-shaped hole, as the 8MP shooter can be combined with a 2MP depth sensor. Moving backwards, the Lite will pack a Quad-Camera array that includes a 48MP main camera with 16MP, 8MP and 5MP drives. As mentioned above, the device has 4,700 mAh that charges via USB-C port with fast charging up to 18W.
Other features include Android 10 straight out of the box and a dedicated Google Assistant key. According to rumors, the new smartphone will cost around 399 euros in Europe. So far this handset seems to share some similarities with the Motorola Edge. In addition, its price does not seem to be very attractive.
Motorola has not yet confirmed the device’s revelation in this incident. We expect it to happen through some kind of teaser in the coming days.
